Hong Kong SAR – 14 October 2026 – The FinTech Association of Hong Kong (“FTAHK”), Hong Kong’s largest industry group and Asia’s leading independent FinTech organization, announced today the appointment of Michele Fung, the Head of APAC at Unlimit, as its new Chair. Michele takes the role with a goal to institutionalize the Association, deepening collaboration with committee co-chairs on initiatives and programs, strengthening dialogue to amplify members' voices across the FinTech industry, and expanding cross-border partnerships throughout the Greater Bay Area and emerging markets. The appointment underscores FTAHK’s commitment, as the Super Connector to driving innovation, strengthening cross-border connectivity, and elevating Hong Kong's FinTech ecosystem on the global stage as it approaches its 10th anniversary in 2027.
Michele brings over a decade of executive leadership in global market entry, cross-border payments, and strategic partnership development. She is currently Head of APAC at Unlimit, a global financial infrastructure for the emerging agentic economy, where she leads the company’s regional expansion strategy and forges partnerships with merchants, financial institutions and ecosystem players. Prior to Unlimit, Michele was General Manager at LianLian Global, expanding the firm's overseas footprint. She has served as Co-Chair at FTAHK in Digital Banking and Payments committee since September 2025. She succeeds Lareina Wang, who completes her maximum two-year term as Chair and will continue to serve as an active member of the FTAHK Board.
In her new role as Chair, Michele will guide FTAHK’s Board of Directors as the Association advances its three core pillars:
- Advocate: Advocate for the development of proportionate and effective regulation while attracting greater investment and talent into Hong Kong’s FinTech industry.
- Collaborate: Identify symbiotic partnership opportunities to collaborate with organizations who share similar goals and / or complementary business models.
- Educate: Leverage extensive workshop and training opportunities led by industry experts to drive education and development opportunities.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of Chair at such a pivotal moment for Hong Kong and the wider Asia-Pacific FinTech ecosystem. As our industry rapidly evolves, cross-border collaboration and regional integration are essential for sustainable growth. My vision for FTAHK is to ensure we amplify every members’ voice from early-stage startups to global financial institutions, while working more closely with our committee co-chairs to turn that input into real programmes, and deepening our connections across the Greater Bay Area and international markets. Through proactive advocacy, high-impact partnerships, and talent enablement, we will continue to reinforce Hong Kong’s standing as a leading global FinTech capital,” Michele Fung, Chair of FTAHK said.
Michele assumes the Chair role following a year of record growth and active industry leadership for FTAHK. Some key milestones include:
- Policy and Regulatory Leadership: Published six major public consultation responses, including a landmark AI position paper developed by the AI Strategic Advisory Council; co-hosted two industry outreach roundtables with the Financial Services Development Council; and established the Digital Asset Integrity Forum (DAIF) to facilitate cross-sector dialogue among regulators, law enforcement, and industry leaders.
- Regional and International Connectivity: Expanded strategic partnerships across Mainland China by signing MoUs with the Shenzhen FinTech Association, Zhongguancun FinTech Industry Development Alliance (Beijing), and Suzhou Association for International Cooperation and Development of Technology and Finance; actively engaged with the Asia FinTech Alliance, leading a Hong Kong delegation to the AFA Summit and Seoul FinTech Week.
- Community and Ecosystem Engagement: Welcomed over 120 new members in the 2025 - 2026 period; launched the FTAHK Podcast in July 2026 highlighting Aisa innovation stories; and hosted or supported over 50 events connecting more than 3,000 professionals across the FinTech ecosystem.
