WealthTech x Digital Banking & Payments Committee kicked off our first event in the Year of the Snake with a discussion on the latest developments in wealthtech and digital payments.
Thank you Ant Bank (Hong Kong) and AlipayHK for co-hosting and sponsoring the venue. Personally, returning to the Times Square office after four years felt like a bittersweet homecoming.
We heard from our panelists, Arnold Chan (GM of Asia, Airwallex) Emmanuelle Pecenicic (Head of Digital propositions and partnerships, Fidelity International) and Martin (Head of Financial Services, AlipayHK). A few takeaways -
1️⃣ Revival of mobility in a post-Covid world: Fintech has a key role to play in facilitating movement of monies for individuals (eg HK-ers heading to Shenzhen for the weekend) as well as businesses (eg global bhiring).
2️⃣ Convergence of verticals: We are seeing payment companies expanding into wealth services and more, driven by the desire to provide a better client experience, which is ultimately the moat and edge to stay competitive.
3️⃣ AI adoption: Our panelists express optimism towards the AI in providing more personalized service as well as increasing backend efficiency.
